The Penguin Update was launched by Google in April 2014 with the intention of freeing its search results from spamming websites. On 17th October, Google rolled out version 3.0 of Penguin search algorithm update. Pierre Far, a Webmaster Trends Analyst at Google, announced the roll out in his Google+ post.

According to the Google+ post of Pierre Far, “On Friday last week, we started rolling out a Penguin refresh affecting fewer than 1% of queries in US English search results. This refresh helps sites that have already cleaned up the webspam signals discovered in the previous Penguin iteration, and demotes sites with newly-discovered spam.” The post further confirmed that “It’s a slow worldwide rollout, so you may notice it settling down over the next few weeks.”

Based on the Google+ post, the Penguin 3.0 roll out can be summarized in some simple points.

• As Penguin 3.0 is a worldwide rollout, it will impact all versions of Google.
• The rollout is slow and will continue over next few weeks.
• At present, the rollout has impacted only 1% of search queries in US English. But it will affect other search queries gradually over next few weeks.
• Pierre Far, a Webmaster Trends Analyst at Google, confirmed that the Penguin 3.0 rollout started on 17thOctober 2014 (last Friday).
• Far also regarded the latest Penguin update to discourage new webspam practices.
